side track

younger bro called telling us that he had his fair and reasonably good share of local delights at Singapore Day in NY..

bro: what u doing? scrapping??

erm.. am I that obvious???

part 1...

yepz.. so this is what I half completed at sat's FwFW's workshop...

As I had to teach in the morning, I had to drastically reduce the amount of things I could bring to the w/s so i only brought 'tools' and 1 set of black alphas.. but guess what? i found / saw / bought pretty pps! I just love the bright and vibrant colours and of cos the owl with a crown to boot! How can anyone resist it? Took me a while to think of the title, but when M & L saw the pic.. she immediately asked who took the pic?? so i said.. cousin J.. and reply was.. "yepz.. this is taken with a DSLR... only a DSLR can take a bit with the background blurry (right term?)"

so thinking hard again, & finally i decided just to name it....

{ Just love a great pic }

PM leave is over.. went to collect my passport... as efficient as the people at ICA was it took me an hour and a half to collect my passport(when I took the queue number, there were 132 people ahead of me, since i had to wait one and half hour for collection, it worked out that a queue number is called approx every minute)... followed by lunch with Cousin M (she's on leave too!).. after which we adjourned for a quick pop by to LP. Also I finally went to picked up a long overdue present for a great pal! and finishing off with my dental appt... and I had the best of " luck " (HUGE open inverted commas!!) to get the same dentist the past 3 times! My gums bled and my teeth hurt after the whole experience.. I've always liked going to the dentist.. but recently the dentists that I've met are totally giving me negative vibes!

It's back to work tmr! hope the week ends fast! hehe ... looking forward to next week... there's a holiday in between... and I'm going to watch Phantom of the Opera!

by the way.. there's part 2 for the LO.. hehe but basically using same pp and similar pics with slightly different expressions!

order pls!

1st of...

I was just looking at the previous post of my LO {Woo Family Tradition} and I don't like it 1 bit! Clarify --> I like every element of it, from the pattern paper, to the CI swirls that I painstakingly cut out, to the alpha, stamp, and tag + journalling. But somehow the combination is just off! I guess it's the problem that I have? Finding my style?? I pour through online galleries looking at different LO, looking at them for reference... sometimes a scraplift... but it turns out totlly different entirely! I guess that i my style? - Looking for inspiration and when I have a pattern paper to work with I start from there and slowly build up the layout creating my very own style? Sometimes, I find that I like things nice, simple and not overly complicated.. and I guess that is probably what I work best with? erm... *ponder*

2nd-ly...

Yesterday's Font With Fontwerks was great! I didn't join but I had little treats at the end too for helping! Thanx M and L! hehe... Seeing them I really saw the hard work that they had gone through just to pull through a 1 day event! Totally not easy! and I must say it really is a great experience to see 1st hand *personal view* how such an event is planned and the thoughts/efforts they had put in. Pity, I didn't take pict with KM but nice seeing her in real person anyway!

and yes! I spent again... well what to do? with such pretty stuff and working in the morning to earn $$ I can spend baby!!

Oh! and i managed to half-complete an LO too! posting it soon!

3rd ...

Elder Bro stopped by my scrap area today... and commented "Mom, your daughter is very egoistic, she's always scrapping pictures of herself!" er.... how do i answer that? I just kept on scrapping... lol

for the record, i do scrap pictures of my family members! and other stuff too!

Last but not least...

just a thought.. a wondering thought..

--> how did i spend my weekends before I started scrapping??? lol i noticed that I've been spending most weekends at home to scrap so what did i do on the weekends say 6 months ago???

added a little recipe tag at the side together with the journalling.. thought it's nice to be remember good old family traditions that my grandparents have!

wahaha and i didn't know what to do with the empty space at the bottom right corner so i just put a nice stamp!

Tomorrow is fun with fontwerks workshop! although i didn't sign up (need to teach to earn more $$ to fund more SB purchases) I'll be going down to help in the later part of the afternoon! hehe... can't wait... excited too!

Finally completed that album! My 1st attempt at altering one. Used Delish Biscuit board which I just bought from TVC for a steal! So happy... after all I only used 3 of the 7 boards and I have 4 more left for another album! :D

This took me 4, almost 5 hours to complete! and the moment I completed it , Cousin M came along with kids, parents, sis and my aunt to my place just in time to receive her little handmade gift!

Truly glad that Cousin M likes it :D

********
and i've got my hands on the new crate papers at TVC! can't wait to use them.... so yummy! and it's double sided!

Bag Lady.. NOT!!!

So ta-da! So this is the sewing machine that I've been mentioning about! I finally mastered the art of spinning the wheel, and the co-ordination of paddling so that stitches can be sewn!!! Ok to give my mom some justice, it's a really good machine and it can even do embroidery but since I was in sec school this machines stood so offensively in the guest room that I've never ever used it for any of my home econs project! So i thought, ok let's give it a try again!

with mom getting pissed at me... screaming her lungs off.. "so easy, why can't you do it???" "practice 1st" '"see very easy right??"

I finally got the hang of it and this are the products... I thought since I'm running of beginner's luck, I'd better exhaust my ability to paddle before suddenly lose that ability to co-ordinate my skills again!

1) a nice tote bag that I'll be bringing everywhere for crops or TVC OH... It's my SCRAP BOOKING SHOPPING BAG!! It comes reversible! I can use it on the pink side with the flowers decoration, or turn it over with 2 compartments - one big enough to put 12x12 pp and a smaller one to put little knick knacks!

took me quite a long time to figure out how to make the base of the bag look like this with a triangle.. even with my mom's help it was pretty difficult to understand the instructions ! After a few trials I got it! yeah!

2) Shoulder sling bag
(Courtesy of Mel! - Thanx babez!)

and...

3) a fabric box that I can use to keep alphas, stickers, ribbons etc..

Excuse the same cloth! I feel in love with these 3 fabric when I went to spotlight last week! so i made everything in them.. and also i'm too lazy to dig out my mom's old cloth! keke...

*****************

Long weekends are the time for me to catch up with the family... went to the Night Safari with my eldest aunt's family. Been missing the two little fella a bit... especially now that I don't get to see K1 everyday in school! He grew so much and was as inquisitive as ever...

K: Fiona ah-ye, why is night safari so dark?
F: It's dark because, it's at night and the animals are nocturnal?
K: Why so dark????

Thanx cousin M for the treat!

How can i resist?

another photo to remember the times when I was in perth. This is Araluen - Tulip Farm, somewhere south of WA. It's absolutely beautiful in Spring, when the weather has just turned slightly cooler and when the flowers are all in bloom! It is just that at Araluen where the tulips are in bloom! Pity I've only been there once! Will definitely go back again!

Love how the picture is taken with the flowers being in focus! You can't see it, but in fact my hair has that wind blown effect! talk about beauty! hehe..

Have a great easter everyone!

my DNA

Part 2..

Using the remainder of the beautiful JBS pp, i made a border for another LO..

Reads: Marron Meal

Marron is a species of crustacean, smaller than a lobster but bigger than a yabbie. It was one of the best meal I had (in fact one of many! I do enjoy my food very much! How to lose weight like this???) . The farm had it own farm and the marrrons were so fresh. It was cooked simply with just garlic and butter... Can you beat this combination??

YUM!!! i can just taste it...
TFL!!!

Remembering

Life has been a bit crazy the last week... March whizzed by with lots of happenings in my life.. . of course there was my b-day , the end of CNY, reports to be done at work (to verify my payroll) , etc, etc...

I guess the tip of it was to see my dad in hospital after an op, however minor and common the operation that he had was, so everyone keeps telling me... But still, to see my VERY fit and healthy father in hospital with a tube in his left hand give me the chills. I could not help but have tears welling up in my eyes. Dad is always pottering around the house doing this or that never a moment sitting down... even if he does sit in front of a TV, he's off to la-la land pretty fast and the moment i switch the telly off he wakes up immediately and says "Hey, I'm watching!". Dad NEVER gets ill... hence, the past 2 weeks when he stayed at home (a very unusual occurrence) I was very worried! And he complained of having fever, sore throat, etc.. Over the weekends when I'm home the whole day, I even noticed that he napped a lot! something really unusual for my dad to do! Seriously worried about Dad's condition, I even proposed sending him to the hospital!

Now seeing Dad after the op and the way he is sitting down and getting up in pain really hurts... Even as he gets into the car, it's such a slow and laborious activity for him... Hope the pain goes away soon...

Just to cheer myself up, I managed to do an LO.. but that was all I could manage.. It's been a bit hard to get myself going... I guess mesmerising about the old times are always good.. so i thought i should do an LO of the different gowns I wore for the various balls I attended in Perth.
